FlowNerves Ingredients Explained: Six Names, None With an Amount

Quick answer

The seller names six FlowNerves ingredients: magnesium glycinate, alpha lipoic acid, butcher's broom, L-carnitine, turmeric extract and coenzyme Q10. No amount is printed for any of them. Alpha lipoic acid has the most nerve research, in diabetes only. None was tested inside this capsule.

What do magnesium glycinate and alpha lipoic acid do?

Magnesium glycinate is magnesium joined to the amino acid glycine. Too much magnesium from supplements can loosen the stool and strain weak kidneys. No source we read tested the glycinate form for nerves.

Alpha lipoic acid has a research file with mixed answers in diabetic neuropathy: a short trial improved symptom scores, a four-year trial missed its main goal, and a 2024 Cochrane review found probably little or no effect at six months.(Ziegler 2006, SYDNEY 2 trial)(Ziegler 2011, NATHAN 1 trial)(Cochrane 2024, ALA for diabetic neuropathy)

What about butcher's broom and L-carnitine?

Butcher's broom studies are about leg-vein complaints, and one cancer-center page says long-term safety is not known.(MSK, Butcher's Broom) We found nothing linking it to nerves.

The nerve trials of carnitine used acetyl-L-carnitine, a different form, and the label names plain L-carnitine.(NIH ODS, Carnitine (HP)) In women on taxane chemotherapy the acetyl form made neuropathy worse, so anyone in cancer care must ask the oncology team first.

And turmeric extract and coenzyme Q10?

The sales page calls the turmeric extract 95% curcuminoids. We found no source that explains the term here, and no amount is printed. Memorial Sloan Kettering says not to take turmeric supplements if you use warfarin or other blood thinners, because they may increase the risk of bleeding.(MSK, Turmeric)

Mild stomach upset is the usual complaint with coenzyme Q10, and sources flag warfarin, so ask your prescriber.

Does the order of the list matter?

Not that we can tell. We never saw the panel, so we cannot say the names run in weight order.

  1. 01Magnesium glycinateMagnesium bound to the amino acid glycineA needed mineral; sold for sleep, muscles and calm
  2. 02Alpha lipoic acidA sulfur-containing antioxidant the body also makes in small amountsSold for blood sugar and nerve comfort; the best-known nerve studies are in diabetes
  3. 03Butcher's broom root extractAn evergreen shrub (Ruscus aculeatus); the root is usedSold for leg veins and circulation
  4. 04L-carnitineAn amino-acid-like compound the body makes and uses to move fats into the cell's energy plantsSold for energy; one form (acetyl-L-carnitine) has nerve research
  5. 05Turmeric extract (95% curcuminoids)Extract of the turmeric root; the sales page says 95% curcuminoidsSold for inflammation and joints
  6. 06Coenzyme Q10 (ubiquinone)A fat-soluble compound found in every cell's energy plants; the oxidized form is ubiquinoneSold for cellular energy and heart health

The numbers are the order of the seller's list, which we cannot confirm is weight order. The hatched bar stands for an amount the seller has not printed; it is not a measurement. Studies of single ingredients say nothing about this capsule.

FAQ01

FlowNerves questions people ask

Which of the six names has the most nerve research?

Alpha lipoic acid, almost all in people with diabetes. Results are mixed, and none came from this capsule.

Does plain L-carnitine match the form used in nerve trials?

No. They are related forms, and the nerve trials used the acetyl form. The label lists plain L-carnitine.

Does a 95% curcuminoids label tell me how much curcumin I get?

The sales page uses the phrase and prints no amount. We found no source that defines it for this product, so ask the seller what it means.

Why would a nerve formula include a leg-vein herb?

The seller gives no reason. Butcher's broom research covers leg veins, not nerves.
