FlowNerves Supplement: Why It Is Not a Medicine
FlowNerves is a dietary supplement, and the seller says plainly it is not a drug and not a neuropathy medicine. The FDA does not approve supplements before sale, and no study tested this capsule. Tingling or numbness needs a doctor's check, so a supplement is not a stand-in for care.

Is FlowNerves a supplement or a medicine?
It is a supplement. The front of the bottle says "DIETARY SUPPLEMENT", and the seller's own wording is that it is not a drug and not a neuropathy medicine.
A medicine is approved for a named condition after trials. A supplement is a food-category product, and the FDA's consumer pages say supplements are not approved before they are sold.(FDA, FDA 101: Dietary Supplements)
| Question | Supplement | Medicine |
|---|---|---|
| Approved before sale by the FDA | No | Yes |
| May claim to treat a disease | No | Yes, if approved |
| May make structure or function claims | Yes, with a statement | Not the usual route |
| Trial of the product required | Not by the FDA | Yes |
What does the asterisk on the bottle mean?
The asterisk after "NERVE SUPPORT*" points to a statement that the FDA has not evaluated the claim. Structure and function claims are not pre-approved by the FDA.(FDA, Structure/Function Claims)
So a supplement can describe support for a body area but not name a disease it treats. An ad that says otherwise goes beyond what a supplement may say.
The FTC adds that health claims generally need competent scientific evidence.(FTC, Health Products Compliance Guidance) For this capsule, no such study is known to us.
What does "supplement, not medicine" mean for you?
It means three practical things.
- You are the one who checks the label, since no approval step did it for you
- A supplement should not replace a diagnosis or a prescribed medicine
- A bad reaction should be reported to a clinician and can be reported through MedWatch(FDA, MedWatch)
Several of the six named ingredients can interact with medicines, including blood thinners, diabetes medicine, blood-pressure medicine and thyroid medicine. Sale without a prescription does not remove that risk.
When is a supplement the wrong first step?
Tingling, numbness and burning have causes that a doctor can test for, such as diabetes and low B12.(NINDS, Peripheral Neuropathy) Start with the visit.
- Call 911: sudden weakness or numbness on one sideFace drooping, arm weakness or trouble speaking can be a stroke. Call right away; do not drive yourself.
- Call 911: chest pain or trouble breathingThese are emergencies, not supplement questions.
- A foot sore, blister or cut that will not healPeople with diabetes or numb feet should see a clinician soon, the same day if it looks infected.
- Weakness that spreads, or trouble walkingWeakness that climbs or numbness that spreads fast needs prompt care.
- Tingling that wakes you up every night or keeps getting worseSee a doctor. Blood tests for sugar, B12 and thyroid are usually the start.
- Hives, swelling of the face or wheezing after a capsuleA possible allergy. Stop and get help; call 911 if breathing is hard.
Stroke signs: (CDC, Stroke Signs and Symptoms). Neuropathy basics: (NINDS, Peripheral Neuropathy). This list is not complete, and a supplement is never a reason to wait.
Sudden weakness or numbness on one side, a drooping face or trouble speaking is an emergency. Call 911.(CDC, Stroke Signs and Symptoms)

FAQ01
FlowNerves questions people ask
Does a supplement need a prescription?
No. Supplements are sold without one, but that does not make them free of interactions or side effects.
Can FlowNerves be used alongside prescription medicine?
Only after a prescriber or pharmacist checks your list. Never stop a prescribed medicine to try it.
Why does the seller say it is not a neuropathy medicine?
A supplement may not claim to treat a disease. The seller's statement reflects that rule.
