Nerve Supplement Side Effects: What Each Common Ingredient Can Do
Nerve supplement side effects depend on the ingredient. Magnesium and carnitine can upset the stomach, alpha-lipoic acid can lower blood sugar, and concentrated turmeric has been linked to liver injury. FlowNerves names all six of these types and prints no amount, so its own side effects are not known.

Do nerve supplements have side effects?
Yes, every active ingredient can. "Natural" does not mean free of effects, and a blend of six names adds six sets of possibilities.
The honest picture is a list per ingredient. We cover three names, then three more, with a warning sign to watch for on each.
Reports below come from health sources about the single ingredient, not from a study of FlowNerves. Nobody has measured the side effects of the finished capsule.
What can magnesium, alpha-lipoic acid and carnitine do?
These three have the clearest reports.
| Ingredient | Reported effects | Ask first if |
|---|---|---|
| Magnesium | Diarrhea from excess; upper level for supplemental magnesium is 350 mg a day (NIH ODS, Magnesium (HP)) | You have kidney disease or take certain antibiotics |
| Alpha-lipoic acid | Can lower blood sugar; rare insulin autoimmune syndrome reported (MSK, Alpha-Lipoic Acid) | You take diabetes medicine |
| L-carnitine | Nausea, cramps, diarrhea and a fishy odor at about 3 g a day; seizure risk in people with seizure disorders (NIH ODS, Carnitine (HP)) | You have a seizure disorder |
The listed amounts come from the sources. FlowNerves prints none, so we cannot say where a capsule sits.
And what about CoQ10, turmeric and butcher's broom?
The second three are less common in everyday trouble but carry their own warnings.
- Coenzyme Q10: mild effects such as insomnia, nausea and diarrhea; both a cancer center and NCCIH flag warfarin.(NCCIH, Coenzyme Q10)
- Turmeric extract: NCCIH says high-absorption forms can harm the liver, and to stop and call for fatigue, nausea, poor appetite, dark urine or jaundice.(NCCIH, Turmeric)
- Butcher's broom: a cancer center says long-term safety is not known.(MSK, Butcher's Broom)
The label does not say which form of turmeric or CoQ10 is inside.
Dark urine, yellow skin or eyes, severe stomach pain, a rash, swelling of the face or trouble breathing needs medical care at once. Call 911 for trouble breathing.
How do you report or avoid a problem?
Ask your pharmacist before you start, and change one thing at a time so you can tell what caused what. If a reaction happens, stop, call your clinician, and report it to the FDA through MedWatch.(FDA, MedWatch)
The seller's FAQ says one capsule daily with a meal and a full glass of water. Follow your own bottle if it says otherwise.

The front of the bottle reads PREMIUM FORMULA, FlowNerves, NERVE SUPPORT* and 30 CAPSULES; it names no disease and prints no amount for any ingredient we could read.
| Item | As printed or stated |
|---|---|
| Front claim | NERVE SUPPORT* (the asterisk points to the FDA statement) |
| Count | 30 capsules per bottle |
| Directions (seller's FAQ) | 1 capsule daily with a meal and a full glass of water |

What is the plain answer for FlowNerves?
We do not know how its blend behaves, because no amounts are printed and no study tested it. Treat the first weeks as a watch period, tell your prescriber and pharmacist what you take, and stop if anything feels wrong.

FAQ01
FlowNerves questions people ask
Can a nerve supplement upset my stomach?
Yes. Magnesium, carnitine and CoQ10 are each reported to cause stomach effects in some people, and the finished capsule has not been tested.
Which nerve supplement ingredient is linked to liver injury?
Concentrated turmeric forms. NCCIH says high-absorption turmeric can harm the liver, so know the warning signs.
Do side effects mean the supplement is working?
No. A side effect is only a side effect, and no symptom shows that a supplement is or is not helping.
Can side effects start after weeks of taking a supplement?
Yes. Some turmeric liver cases appear one to four months after starting, per LiverTox, so a smooth first week does not clear it.(LiverTox, Turmeric)
